This is a 7 Days-day road safari visiting Tanzani’s best safari circuit on the North. The highlights include Tarangire National park, famed for its large number of elephants and the famous tree climbing lions, The Ngorongoro crater, one of the most famous wildlife viewing spotsin Africa where you will find the “Big five” with ease and the Serengeti National park, breeding ground for the million plus wildebeest, zebras and several antelopes species.
What to Expect
Tarangire: The name of the park originates from the Tarangire river that crosses through the park, being the only source of water for wild animals during dry seasons. During the dry season thousands of animals migrate to the Tarangire National Park from Manyara. The park should be part of any safari in northern Tanzania.
The park is reputed to have the highest concentration of elephants in the world, something on the order of 3,000 or so. Within a few hours of driving along the park’s rugged, dusty roads, you’re likely to come across many hundreds.
The park is famous for its huge number of elephants, baobab trees and tree climbing lions. Visitors to the park can expect to see any number of resident zebra and wildebeest in addition to the less common animals. Other common animals include waterbuck, giraffe, and olive baboons.
The swamps are the focus of the largest selection of breeding birds anywhere in the world. Yellow-collared Lovebirds are a common bird sighting in the trees along the Tarangire River.
Ngorongoro conservation Area:
Within the Conservation Area lies the Ngorongoro Crater, known as the eighth natural wonder of the world. Virtually all the Big Five live or travel within the crater rim, while along its edge, Masaai tribesmen graze goats and cattle on the highland plateaus.
Ngorongoro is one of the easiest places in all of Africa to spot the Big Five. Head to the acacia and quinine tree forests early in the morning to spot the endangered black rhino.
The waters of Lake Makatare are home to thousands of migratory flamingos, while the swamps are the spots to look for hippos wallowing in the cool mud.
The Serengeti will tickle your thrill spot with Tanzania’s richest concentration of wildlife. The lush golden grassland plains are filled with plentiful zebras, lions and wild beasts, with a real-life alacrity of on-camera safari expeditions. This acacia land brings you goosebumps with the cheerful sight of the five giants, the elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards and the wild buffaloes. Feel the intriguing sense of nomadic life with captivating day-time activities and splendid overnight stays at camps or lodges on this trip to Masai Mara Safari.
The landscape has grassy plains and rolling hills, and is crossed by the Mara and Talek rivers. The area nearby is dotted with villages (enkangs) of Maasai people.

Day 2: Arusha/ Moshi to Tarangire
Today we drive to Tarangire National Park, for excellent game viewing. Tarangire is a small park which offers some excellent sights. Generally in the dry seasons Tarangire comes alive as wildlife and birdlife congregate on the Tarangire River, which is a permanent source of water. We spend the night in our lodge beautifully set inside the park with stunning views and a unique atmosphere. In the late afternoon we travel just outside of Tarangire National Park to Serengeti. Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti
On our third day, we shall depart Tarangire early enough for Serengeti N. Park. We shall check in to Serengeti Central. Day 4 and 5: Serengeti full day
We have another full day in this wonderful park, rising early to make the most of our time. Our guides will choose the best spotting locations for the time of year; we can spend time at the Hippo pool watching these majestic animals laze about in the cool water happily living alongside the crocodiles, watch a big pride of lions, be in the middle of the migration, sometimes surrounded by wildebeest, sometimes by zebras, which travel with the wildebeest. We journey from the wide open plains to the kopjes: these volcanic rocky outcrops provide protection and shelter for a wide variety of animals and from the top we can look out across the vast grasslands of the Serengeti. This diverse and interesting landscape will provide us with the ultimate in game viewing, we will hopefully see all of the plain games; elephants, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, lions and it you are lucky the elusive leopard and cheetah, as well as huge amounts of interesting bird life, from the elegant secretary birds to the flightless ostrich. We return to Angata Camp Central Serengeti for the night.
Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro
We start the day with an early morning game drive before heading to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ngorongoro is a special place in that it is a Conservation Area, not a National Park; this means that the whole area is managed for both the animals and the local Masai people who graze their cattle alongside the indigenous wildlife. During the drive in Ngorongoro we have a chance to glimpse something of the Masai way of life. After stopping at the entrance gate, where there is a chance to learn more about this fascinating volcanic landscape, we will drive around the rim of the Crater itself, and from here we can look down and see the herd of wildebeest or buffalos. Check in at the Ngorongoro forest Tented lodge for relaxing as well as lunch and overnight.
Day 7: Ngorongoro crater tour
Today we will we will descend to the crater floor. The crater walls provide a natural sanctuary for the animals, which means there is plenty to see: lions, elephants, buffalo, rhino and leopard (if you are lucky). The only animal you won’t see in here is a giraffe, whose long legs are unable to cope with the steeps sides of the crater. Lunch will be served picnic. In the late afternoon we travel our accommodation just outside the Crater Area to Ngorongoro forest Tented lodge.
