What to Expect

Salt lick is a privately owned conservation area located at the foot of the Taita Hills adjacent to Tsavo West National Park in Kenya. Taita Hill Saltlick offers many diverse opportunities for guests to experience the wildlife, landscape and culture of this fascinating ecosystem. From the Saltlick Lodge guests can take a nature walk with qualified guides; enjoy a bush dinner or breakfast, champagne sundowner at Kudu Point or visit local communities and experience their culture.

Taita Hills Sanctuary is home to the African leopard, Masai lion, Tanzanian cheetah, Masai giraffe, zebra, hartebeest, impala, waterbuck, Thomson’s gazelle and dik-dik. That’s a lot of animals, everywhere! If wildlife is your primary motivation, then Salt Lick is just what we, the safari maestros, have ordered.

The Sarova Salt Lick Lodge is situated in the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary in the Taita Hills on the edge of the Tsavo West National Park. The Sanctuary forms an important wildlife corridor between the two national parks and is a major migration route for the 12 000 Elephant that live in the two national parks.

Day 1: Mombasa/ Diani Beach to Taita Hills Game sanctuary
You will be picked early in the morning and driven by our safari driver/guide to Taita Hills Sanctuary where you will arrive time for mid morning game drive until time for lunch in Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge. Spend the afternoon in the Stsavo east saltlick lodge safari with animal beneath the lodge sanctuary where you will see the resident animal ranging from wild cats, the big five and numerous antelopes until time for dinner in Sarova Saltlick Game Lodge built on stilts overlooking floodlit waterhole and saltlicks.

Day 2: Taita Hills to Mombasa/ Diani
Early in the morning game viewing drive in this 28,000-aqcre private sanctuary, home to lion, zebra, waterbuck, impala, hartebeest, cheetah, elephant and many more besides. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Thereafter midmorning game viewing drive in the sanctuary till lunch.
Depart after lunch and drive down to Mombasa and transferred to your hotel.

Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is a community owned wildlife sanctuary in Kenya. It is located near Mwatate in Taita-Taveta County in the former Coast Province, approximately 220km from Mombasa. It covers an area of 48,000 acres.
